I had only three minutes to make it back to work from my lunch break. Then all of a sudden, I heard a loud massive roaring sound, followed by the lowering of the railroad crossing gate. As the car in front of me starting braking to a complete stop, I started thinking how late I was going to be, where I would park, and what if I had a client waiting on me already? Besides, I need to be on time because I have plenty of paper work to finish. As I listen to the train get closer, I estimated that it may take the train at least 5 to 10 minutes to pass by. Nevertheless, it sounded like a long freight train, so who knows just how long that could take.
Next, there was a small still voice that spoke to me immediately, and said to me to take captive of my thoughts. Also, to change the way I was thinking. That’s just what I did. I changed my thinking. I thought to myself, “Maybe this delay had to happen. There may be some type of danger ahead that Im not aware of. If I’m late, it should’nt be but 5 to 10 minutes at the most. To add, I could stay late and make my time up”. Consequently, when my prospective change, the train started crossing the tracks. But wait a minute….. Only the engine of the train passed through. Where is the rest of the long, loud, and roaring train?
Immediately, the Holy Spirit spoke to me about changing my prospective. There will be circumstances that I will face that are out my control. I must always renew my mind and remember God is still in control. He is there in the little things and in the big things! What sounded like a 5 to 10 minute train passing through, only lasted 5 to 10 seconds. Praise God! Not only was I not late, I arrived right on time. What a God I serve!
Verse of meditation: Romans 12:2
Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
